We give every rider a helmet and gloves, and a safety briefing before you start. For the rest, here is what works best on the sand.
Clothes
- Closed shoes such as trainers. No sandals or flip-flops.
- Long trousers to protect your legs from the sun and the machine.
- A light long-sleeved top in summer, a warm jacket in winter.
- A scarf to cover your face from sand and sun.
Small things to bring
- Sunglasses.
- Sun cream.
- Water, especially in the warm months.
- A zipped pocket or small bag for your phone.
Cameras and phones
Fine sand gets everywhere. Keep your phone in a closed pocket while riding; your guide stops for photos whenever you ask, so you will have plenty of chances to take pictures.
For buggy rides
The same advice applies. Long hair is best tied back, and a scarf helps against the dust.
